The Best Kitesurf & Wingfoil Spots in Mallorca

Mallorca is one of the Mediterranean's best-kept secrets for kitesurfing and wingfoil. Consistent thermal winds, flat water bays, crystal-clear turquoise sea and a year-round season make this island a true paradise for riders of all levels.
Why Mallorca?
The island benefits from reliable thermal winds known as the Embat, a north-easterly breeze that kicks in from April to October, typically building from midday onwards and reaching 12–18 knots on good days. In winter, frontal systems deliver stronger winds (20–30 knots) from varying directions.
Top Spots on the Island
1. Sa Marina — Bay of Pollença / Alcúdia (North)
The island's number-one kitesurf and wingfoil spot. Sa Marina offers exceptionally shallow, flat water — in some sections you can walk 150 metres out before the water reaches waist height. Ideal for beginners and wingfoilers. The thermal Embat blows consistently side-on from the north-east, the scenery framed by the Serra de Tramuntana mountains is stunning, and the atmosphere on the water is always welcoming. This bay is home to Pura Vida Mallorca and Cuatro Vientos.
2. Playa de Muro (North)
A long stretch of fine white sand bordering the S'Albufera nature reserve. The wide, open beach gives riders plenty of space to rig and launch. The flat, shallow water is excellent for foiling. Access regulations change seasonally — always check with local schools before heading out.
3. Son Serra de Marina (North-East)
A quieter, less touristy beach favoured by independent riders, especially in spring and autumn. Less crowded, good side-shore winds and more freedom to explore.
4. Bay of Palma — Can Pastilla & El Molinar (South)
The south of the island is the go-to option in autumn and winter when strong south winds dominate. El Niño Surf Center is based here in Can Pastilla, offering kitesurf courses and rental just steps from the water.
